Ergonomic Mouse Alternatives – Centered input devices (Part 2)

A few weeks back we did a post about the benefits of centered input devices as an ergonomic mouse alternative.  Here’s a quick reminder:

  • they keep your body safe from strains and injuries that can occur from using one arm out to the side for extended periods
  • a centered input device sits right in front of your keyboard, negating awkward twists and turns for your shoulder, forearm and wrist
  • with most centered mice, you can use both hands to control them.

At the moment, our Physiotherapist is desk-testing a whole range of these devices and over the coming weeks (or months – there are a few of them!) will provide feedback on what he likes (or even loves) about them. His advice will help you select the perfect ergonomic mouse alternative to suit your needs, not just from an injury prevention/management perspective, but also based on the type of work you do.
