The single biggest cause of shoulder, neck, and forearm strain at a desk workstation is reaching sideways for a traditional mouse — hundreds of times a day, every working day. The Contour RollerMouse Free3 solves this by removing the reach entirely. It sits directly in front of your keyboard, keeping your arms in a neutral, symmetrical position and your hands centred on your work surface where they belong.

This centred placement isn’t just more comfortable — it’s clinically significant. Eliminating sustained lateral reach reduces loading on the rotator cuff, upper trapezius, and forearm extensors, making the RollerMouse Free3 one of the most commonly recommended ergonomic mouse alternatives for people managing RSI, shoulder impingement, upper limb tendinopathy, or general mouse-related upper limb discomfort. It’s also an excellent option for anyone who has been told they need to reduce their mousing load and distribute effort more evenly across both hands.

How it works

The rollerbar runs across the width of the unit and responds to gentle rolling and lateral movement to control the cursor — no gripping, no clicking with a thumb, and no holding a mouse body. You can use one finger, several fingers, or alternate hands throughout the day. The broad bar is intentionally designed to encourage posture variation and reduce static loading on any single muscle group.

At just 25mm high, the Free3 has the lowest profile in the RollerMouse family, making it well suited to use alongside slim, compact keyboards — the kind increasingly common in modern workstations. Integrated leatherette palm supports keep the wrists in a neutral, flat position during use.

Seven programmable buttons — including pre-set copy, paste, double-click, and forward/back — reduce the need to return to the keyboard for common commands, further keeping your arms in the neutral zone.

Who it suits

The Free3 is designed for small, medium, and large hands and is best suited to desktop use rather than keyboard tray use, due to its gently sloping palm support. It’s compatible with both Windows and macOS, plug-and-play out of the box with no driver required for standard use.

If you’re unsure whether the Free3 or another RollerMouse model is the right fit for your situation, use the Get Free Expert Advice button above — we’re happy to help you choose based on your hand size, keyboard setup, and the nature of your symptoms.
